Spin the Wheel
Type one option per line, then spin. Every slice has the same chance.
No spins yet. Each pick is listed here in order.
About this wheel spinner
This wheel spinner turns any list into a fair random pick. Put one option on each line (names, prizes, places, tasks) and the wheel gives each line one slice. Spin, and the pointer at the top stops on a single slice.
List the same option twice and it gets two slices, so it is twice as likely as an option listed once. The line under the wheel always shows the real odds for the list you have right now.
Use the full-screen button when the whole room needs to see the wheel, and Copy link to send the exact same wheel to someone else.
What people use a spinner wheel for
- Picking which student answers next, without the same hands every time.
- Choosing a giveaway winner in front of the people who entered.
- Settling where to eat when nobody will decide.
- Deciding who goes first in a board game.
- Picking the next task from a to-do list you keep avoiding.
How to use the wheel
- Type or paste your options, one per line. The wheel redraws as you type.
- Press Spin, click the wheel, or press Ctrl+Enter while you are in the list.
- Read the pick. Remove it from the wheel if nobody should be picked twice, then spin again.
How the pick is made
Before the wheel moves, your browser draws one slice at random with crypto.getRandomValues, the same generator browsers use for security keys. Every slice has the same chance. The spin you watch only plays that result out.
Nothing about the animation changes the outcome: not how hard you click, not how long the wheel turns, not the size of your screen. The pointer always stops inside a slice, never on a line.
Your list stays in your browser. A link you copy carries the list inside the link itself, so nothing is uploaded.
Questions about the wheel spinner
- Is the wheel really random?
- Yes. The winning slice is drawn with your browser’s cryptographic random number generator before the wheel starts to move, and every slice has the same chance. The animation only shows the result.
- How many entries can I put on the wheel?
- Up to 1,000 lines. Past about 150 entries the labels get too small to read, so the wheel hides them and the result window shows the pick.
- Can I make one option more likely?
- Yes. Write it on more than one line. With two lines it has two slices and is twice as likely as an option on one line. The odds line under the wheel updates to match.
- Can I save my wheel or share it?
- Your list is saved in this browser automatically. Copy link creates a link that carries the list, so anyone who opens it sees the same wheel. Nothing is stored on a server.
- Does it work on a phone or a classroom screen?
- Yes. On a phone the wheel fills the width of the screen. On a projector or smart board, press Full screen so the wheel and the result are large enough to read from the back of the room.
